If you use dual SIM and are tired of expensive recharges to keep your secondary SIM active, there’s great news for you. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has implemented a new rule that allows you to keep your SIM active for 90 days with just ₹99.
What is the new rule?
TRAI has issued new guidelines to enhance SIM validity and provide relief to consumers.
₹99 for 90 days validity:
Now, the secondary SIM can remain active for 90 days by just recharging with ₹99.
Extended validity on prepaid balance:
If the SIM is inactive but has a small prepaid balance, ₹15 will be deducted to extend the validity for 30 more days.
SIM deactivation without balance:
If the SIM has no balance and no activity has taken place for 90 days, it will be deactivated.
SIM Deactivation and Restoration Options
After Deactivation:
The deactivated SIM number will be recycled and issued to new customers.
Restoration Opportunity:
If the SIM has been inactive for 90 days, it can be reactivated within 15 days by visiting customer care or a store.
